Potential woven cloths typical of Sub District Nambo, a cultural heritage of Banggai District will be the main tourist attraction beside the beauty of marine tourism, and should be maximized to go international enhancing the development of local products.
In the event of Indonesia Fashion Week 2018, one of the biggest fashion event in Indonesia held at Jakarta Hilton Convention Center (JHCC) on March 28th- April 1st , 2018 Yogyakarta famous fashion designer, Ryani Utami, exhibited her high fashion culture using Nambo material.
Previously, weaving Nambo was introduced at the Pulo Dua Festival, in north Balantak on 27-29 November 2017 conducted by BTB (Banggai Tourism Board) and Banggai Regency government and fully supported by the Indonesia Ministry of Tourism.
Nambo weaving is also increasingly went global and attracted the community of the United State of America at the New York Fashion Week, September 2017 which also presented the beauty of Indonesia fashion show.
Weaving Nambo, usually with various kinds of bright colors, has some ethnic motifs that are thick with coastal shades of Banggai, manuk Maleo a typical bird of Banggai, cardinal fish, pasula, tampok fish, and others. Along with the development of time, woven cloth Nambo not only used by a certain community in Banggai but also by all community of Sulawesi and Indonesia in general, because nowadays weaving Nambo has been traded nationally, not limited only to be used as clothing, but also used for producing shoes, bags and other home decoration. "Weaving Nambo is our production that we should be proud and defend," said Head of Banggai District Ir. H. Herwin Yatim., MM.
Now the sub district of Nambo Banggai is currently the center of Nambo weaving development by empowering the surrounding community. Weaving Nambo is a local wisdom that became the pride of the community in Banggai Regency because it is an ancestral heritage that has a high artistic value and worthy as one ethnic trend center which will be enhancing the tourism sector in Banggai regency of Central Sulawesi.
