Lucy Widasari has pursued an extensive educational background, obtaining a Bachelor’s in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine at Christian University of Indonesia (UKI) in East Jakarta; a Master’s degree in Nutrition from Universitas Negeri Sebelas Maret (UNS) in Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia; and a Doctorate from the Faculty of Public Health with a specific focus on nutrition science at Hasanuddin University in Makassar, Indonesia. Her research primarily focuses on maternal and child health, including a longitudinal study that covered interventions from preconception to pregnancy outcomes and addressed nutritional issues.
Additionally, she has served as the main trainer for Indonesia’s Basic Health Research in 2018 and provided expert consultancy services at TP2AK, specifically contributing to the evaluation of the National Strategy for stunting prevention from 2019 to 2021. Furthermore, she has developed modules for capacity development in various areas such as research methodology, program evaluation, and data consolidation related to stunting prevention initiatives. From 2022 to 2023, she acted as an expert for the central Bureau of Population and Family Planning spearheading efforts to accelerate the reduction of stunting—a significant initiative of the Indonesian Government spanning from 2020 to 2024.
Presently, she holds the positions of doctor and lecturer at the Faculty of Public Health, Aufa Royhan University, in Padangsidimpuan, North Sumatra. Lucy also serves as a member of Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies (HMHB)-https://hmhbconsortium.org/meet-our-members/
Her commitment to advancing knowledge is reflected in her active participation across academic platforms, including ORCID, Web of Science ResearcherID, Scopus, Google Scholar, Garuda, and Sinta. Additionally, since 2010, she has been a member of the expert team for the Indonesian Women’s Congress—an esteemed organization within Indonesia’s Women’s Federation that has permanent status as a member of UN Women and ECOSOC, (Economic and Social Council), Coordinator of Communication in the International Council of Women (ICW), Global White Ribbon Alliance (GWRA), an international organization that promotes human rights, equality, peace and the involvement of women in all areas of life, including social protection, gender equality, women’s empowerment and the health of women and children. Lucy once attended the 63rd session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the United Nations headquarters to advocate for the safety of pregnant, birthing, and postpartum mothers, as well as newborn babies.
